There was only one problem with our client’s family home – their kitchen-dining area to the rear of the property was east-facing with very little daylighting. The family felt they weren’t enjoying the space as much as they could so approached us with an idea to extend out from their kitchen and add more windows.
From our briefing session, we knew they wanted a home extension that was functional and a great place to entertain and enjoy family time. We suggested opening up the entire kitchen/dining area and making one big, open-plan space.
We designed a sunroom with a gable front, four Velux windows and windows to the side, maximising the allowable glazed area. While the extension is still east-facing, sun streams through the higher windows and glass structure, down into the new kitchen area.
The new space is made even more impressive by the great finish. Our clients, owners of Advanced Flooring, completed the job themselves – no easy feat but their attention to detail shines through.
